Events at St. Francis de Sales Regional Catholic School

What makes St. Francis a fun place to learn?

"St. Francis is a fun place to learn because teachers give us exciting projects to do like the state/county/village fair..." 5th grade student
The Annual Christmas Concert at St. Francis de Sales was a hit!

"A night to remember" say parents when the concert ended with the entire school joining in for "We Pray for Peace." A unique feature of St. Francis is the ability to share the true meaning of Christmas with our children, parents, family, and friends. Kids at St. Francis put on quite a show celebrating the birth of Jesus through song, announcements, and fabulous acting. They did a superb job lifting their spirits and sharing the joy of Christmas with their audience.
Portable Planetarium
On October 5th, all students in pre-k 4's through 6th grade were given interactive presentations inside the STARLAB dome. The younger students were given an interactive program to experience day and night in the STARLAB. Our older children learned about the Native American’s perception of the night sky as a calendar, clock, map and teacher of moral values. They also took a space "fieldtrip" on STARLAB Voyager. Once in orbit, they were given an "astronaut’s eye view" of the continents, oceans, peninsulas and islands. Our 5th and 6th grade students experienced a graphic depiction of the world's major weather patterns: the position of wind systems, pressure systems and jet streams. It was a great way for our students to travel beyond our planet and experience the night sky up close.
Finger Food Festival!
Pre-K and Kindergarten children baked homemade breads and pies for their annual food festival. They also created  placemats and centerpieces to decorate the church hall - it was a beautiful morning with family and friends!
Back in Time
On November 15th, students in 3rd – 6th grade went on a field trip to the Albany Institute of History and Art. While there, they "travelled” back in time in the Ancient Egypt Gallery to view Egyptian artifacts including 2 real mummies.
Christmas card contest
Students created their own masterpieces that depicted the “true meaning of Christmas." This year’s winner is Olivia Langdon. Congratulations Olivia! Her artwork will be featured on the school’s Christmas card that will be sent to everyone on our mailing list.
